Enable 2FA and SMS backup for your account

Learn how to enable two-factor authentication (2FA) using an authenticator app for enhanced account security, set up SMS backup, and troubleshoot access issues.

二要素認証(2FA)の説明

TaxDome requires email verification when you sign in. After entering your password, you receive a one-time code to verify your identity.

Email verification with one-time codes is being rolled out to firms. If you don’t see this feature yet, it will be available for your firm soon.

For enhanced security, you can enable two-factor authentication (2FA) using an authenticator app. This method offers stronger protection than email verification because codes are generated on your device rather than sent via email, making them immune to email interception or phishing attacks.

Your firm owner or admin may require you to use authenticator app 2FA instead of email verification.

You can also configure SMS as a backup option if you lose access to your email or authenticator app.

Enable authenticator app 2FA for your account

You can enable two-factor authentication either on the web or in the mobile app. Once enabled, it will require the authenticator app to log in to the web portal, mobile and desktop apps.

  1. Click your profile at the top right, then go to Account settings.

  2. Toggle on Two-factor authentication, enter your TaxDome password, and click Submit.

  1. Install an authenticator app on your phone if you don’t have one. Supported apps include:
  1. Scan the QR code with your authenticator app, or manually enter the secret key.
  1. Enter the 6-digit code from your app and click Confirm.

Your authenticator app is now your primary authentication method.

iPhone users can use the built-in verification codes feature in Settings > Passwords instead of installing a separate app. Open your Camera app, point it at the QR code shown on screen, and tap the banner that appears to select Add Verification Code in Passwords. Your iPhone will then automatically generate and fill in 6-digit login codes for you.
  1. Tap your profile at the top of the screen.

  2. Select Security settings.

  3. Toggle on Two-factor authentication and confirm your password.

  4. Download and install an authentication app (such as Authy or Google Authenticator) if you haven’t already.

  5. Open the authentication app and paste the secret key provided in the TaxDome mobile app.

  6. Once your authentication app is set up, enter the code it generates into the TaxDome app to complete the setup.

Once you’ve set up an authenticator app, you’ll use it to verify your identity when you sign in :

  1. Enter your email and password on the login page.

  2. Open your authenticator app on your phone.

  3. Enter the 6-digit code displayed in the app on the verification page.
